As with all our purchases for our new house, my sweet hubby wants a new sound system which honestly I cannot deny him (not that I will admit that to him but anyway). So we discussed a bit and agreed we’d come up with something except he decided to surprise me. Not a great idea. He bought this box which is black and red and my house has NO black or red decoration and he wants to put one of these boxes in each room. I went livid. He tried to explain just how great this garish box is… you can play anything at the flick of something. I can just bring up adams to zee zee top or adamski to abba! Honestly I told him.. I love that I can listen to any type of genre of music at anytime… but the box just does not match my house… it can be your toy and for now lets stick to our old cd players in silver!

Holiday
We finally started our holiday and so far it has been amazing and it is still only the beginning. We started with a trip or two to IKEA and continued on to our holiday before loading our car with shopping.
The one thing that really caught my eye is how much structure is actually metal. Not that I am likely to use it in my new house despite its modernness but still note worthy. It must take some mighty hypertherm to cut through the metal and build with it from the IKEA buildings to our holiday mega tent (where the activities are not where we reside)!
Not quite what I am shopping for…but guess my car also is made of metal which is good news for all the shopping I’ll be loading to take back home.
My Smalls!
I have been working through my smalls. Well honestly speaking they are not that small and I was amazed at some stuff I had in the back of my drawer. I had some lingerie corsets dating to my wedding / honeymoon (and I have been married nearly 13 years), some underwear that was so old that when I held it up to fresh air, it started deteriorating. The shame of it. My current most used collection are what would be termed “granny knickers”. My bin received most of it. And the first on my list is some new (and ideally sensual) underwear and lingerie. I guess I will be doing this on my shopping spree which is coming up in a couple of weeks when I hit the shops!
Schooling
I would like to start by stating that I am not an uneducated mother. I have a degree and even a GCSE / O Level in Physics but I was completely thrown when my 6 year old son asked me what “linear motion” was! I mean seriously he is 6. He comes home with experiments like things which float or sink, why items push and pull and now this! Obviously I sent him straight to his father but I guess it is time for me to start brushing up my general knowledge because it is only a matter of time before I appear ignorant to him. Wikipedia and Amazon here I come.
Cash Tills
Do you remember when people wrote receipts and shops had cash registers? It feels like a lifetime ago. With todays technology of POS Hardware and software, shops can keep track of all their stock (and let you know if they have any in, or if another store does or when it is expected in). They can automatically give you your warranty by typing in your emails. Place an order for you. Yet… if the bar code does not read, then the whole process is halted. And can you just imagine what would happen if there was a power outage at a shop like Tesco, ASDA, BOOTS or even Comet or Currys. Makes me giggle!
Bed sweet bed
I cannot wait to get to bed tonight. My back is hurting. I am cold and exhausted and still working by filling in my mystery shopping reviews. Being a full time mum and part-time reviewer means that sometimes I am still working late into the night but thankfully my day is over and I am going to slip into bed on our heated mattress pads (because I made hubby switch them on when he went up a few minutes ago) and I am going to drift straight off into my snuggly and warm cocoon. It will ease my back (I find warmt always does) and give me that coziness that only comes from slipping into bed. Now where did I put my self indulgent fleece PJ’s?
Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone out there. I know some people think it is just another commercialised day to sell more stuff (and yes I bought a load of things and decorated our new house but that’s me). But personally, I think that Valentine’s Day is a day to show the people you love that you do love them and don’t take them for granted.
In fact this Valentine’s Day, I got the kids light up toys (decorated with hearts which I said was to remind them that Mummy and Daddy love them loads) and my hubby cooked us a romantic meal (the kids got fed at their favourite restaurant – Yes McDonald’s much to our dismay) and we shunned the Restaurant System on Valentine’s where everyone has to get an overpriced set menu. He even lit a candle.
So despite Valentine’s being commercialised and me being a shopaholic… it practically did not cost anything more than a regular day and all my family have warm fuzzy feelings.
Nutella
One of my favourite things is Nutella. Many people think of it as a chocolate spread. I must correct you on this because it is not a chocolate spread but a Hazelnut spread. It does have cocoa and is smooth, creamy and almost chocolatey. It is decadent and divine and always puts a grin on my face.
But here is my warning, never forget that it is made of Hazelnuts which means nuts! At a party I recently threw, I made some Nutella sandwiches for the kids. The kids loved them. But poor Austin. He is allergic to nuts we found out! The allergy treatment austin was severe. He needed epinephrin and was taken to hospital. So never forget that it contains nuts.
But if you are not allergic… you must give Nutella a try. You can get them in 4 different sizes. An individual portion – great if its your first time or need a fix but hard to find in the UK but easily available on the continent. The glass size. This is a small tumbler filled with Nutella and you have a glass at the end too. Not the best value for money but great if you break lots of glasses. The standard jar. This is the most easily available and most commonly bought. Offers tend to be on this size too. Then there is the Super size. This is the size you buy for me to make me smile from ear to ear. It is the size I most frequently buy. But beware… sometimes costs more per gram then the standard size, especially if on offer. No logical sense but there you have it.
You must try Nutella on strawberries, in sandwiches and on pancakes. Talking about pancakes, with it being pancake Tuesday next week you will find lots of offers on Nutella.
My highest recommendations.
Shopping for a partner!
Watching a “documentary” about Muslims finding partners. Most are arranged marriages. Truth be told, they tend to work better than fall in love and marry of your own free will marriages of which half fail.
I guess there the modern way of finding a hubby in the western world might be to “shop” for one. You could use a match maker, a free dating online site or speed dating. But really isn’t it all about “shopping” for what you want?
Junk Mail
Honestly sometimes I think people lack common sense. Today I found some advertising for pool fencing at our old house. It would be ok if our house were a luxury style house that might have a pool but it is a terraced house in a capital city – what could the chances be for having a pool in our house. Mind you, we had a pool in our previous house and that was only a semi detached. So perhaps not that silly! Mind you, no-one in our street has a pool!
