Royal Wedding

Congratulations to Prince William and Catherine Middleton on the nuptials.

Considering how shopping crazy everyone went after they got engaged in particular with the Royal Blue dress… I can only imagine what shopping will be like after seeing her dress and the outfits of every celebrity invited!

Exam Time

I have just received my exam tables and there seems to be loads this session. Or at least I am being offered lots of work. I invigilate part-time. I need the cash to fund my shopping but with a pay cut and lack of an aupair – so I need expensive child care, I might have to turn down the work.

I hate having to turn work down but working to not earn anything is pointless. Now if they only have childcare facilities!!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter.

Don’t eat too many chocolates or you might end up needing to join me on Weight Watchers!

CarPET

If you have pets like me, then you know the frustrations of pet hair. I did not realise just how bad things were until I tested CarPET. I used it on a patch a foot square that had already been vacuumed with a pet hair vacuum cleaner. And in a couple of sweeps, you can see the ball of hair I picked up. I was astonished. I thought it was clean and I was so very wrong.

It is so good, I do not even know where to begin. I thought I was just testing another gimick except it actually works. The only recommendation I have, is they need to make it as an attachment to a vacuum cleaner so that it can suck the hairs up as you clean.

And if you are interested it is not just for Cats and Dogs but can even be used for horse hair.

Sinks

Isn’t it interesting how you rarely seem to find double bowl sinks any more. It seems like the 1 and a half bowl seems more popular. I grew up thinking it was luxurious to have a double bowl but in my kitchens, I never had more than a one and a half bowl. I have had 7 kitchens at least.

I keep thinking of my ideal kitchen and I think deciding would be dependant upon space. What is a must have would be a garbage  waste disposal unit. I hate and I mean hate having to pick out left over cereal dumped in the sink. Mind you, I am grateful that my kids and hubby do take their breakfast items to the kitchen. :)

Kids First

I have a great belief in enhancing everything you can to give children the best start in life. Fish Oil is renowned for being a brain booster. So, obviously I have been giving them my kids since they were old enough. I remember my mum giving me Cod Liver Oil as a spoonful and it was disgusting, no matter how it was disguised. But with modern technology, fish oil tablets have come a long long way.

Anyway, recently I had the opportunity to test 3 different brands. I had Boots Smart Omega 3 Chewable Capsules for kids, HalibOrange Kids Omega – 3 and Brain Boosters . As you can see from my picture they are quite different and even taste different. Besides my testing the oils, I also asked my 5 year old his opinion.

HalibOrange (the designer brand) just did not make the cut. He did not enjoy them at all and nor did I?

Now the other two was interesting. My son liked the outside of Brain Boosters better than the Smart Omega but prefered the inside of the Smart Omega. However, the day after the the experiment… I gave my son the Brain Boosters again… and he replied, ” Oh Good, My Favourite Ones”, which I guess means the Brain Boosters are definately prefered.

So my over all conclusion is Brain Boosters wins hands down but if it could be improved, perhaps a nicer inside could be conjured up! The best bit is I can order direct from them and have them delivered too!

Just for your info, their nutritional info is …

  • Brain Boosters -  Fish Oil 303mg
  • HalibOrange – Fish Oil 200mg + Vitamins A, D, E, C
  • Smart Omega - Fish Oil 204mg + Vitamin A, D, E, C

Brain Booster, Smart Omega & HalibOrange

Easter Recipe – Birds Nests

I went shopping to pick up the ingredients for our Easter Recipe. I find it is something simple to do and with fantastic results as the children are kept occupied and love to eat the finished product. All you need are:-

  • Shredded Wheat
  • Chocolate
  • Mini Eggs eg Cadbury Mini Eggs or if available Tesco Micro Eggs

Shred the Shredded Wheat into a bowl. Melt the chocolate in the Microwave. Pour melted chocolate into the wheat and mix well. Put into cupcake holders and press down gently in the centre. Top with the mini eggs. Let stand for a while. Eat.

Notes – I drizzled some white chocolate for more texture and to hold the mini eggs to the nests – so no runaway eggs. As it is mostly cereal, it is not the worst treat the kids can have either.

Tesco Offer

I am always on the look out for offers, whether it is a BOGOF, 3 for 2 or even 2 for less than 2. However, I am not into offers where buying 2 costs more on offer than 2 not on offer!! Case in point.. see the image – Direct from my screen! I am not interested in buying 2 salad tubs for £2 when one costs just 88p! Between you and me, it ensures that I do not buy 2 even if  I was originally going to buy 2 because no-one wants to pay more than usual selling price! Or have I got it wrong? If I have…. just click the offer link to buy it!

Tesco’s offer – 1 for 88p, 2 for £2.00 -  a 12% increase on their regular price!

Who knows, maybe salad is just the thing someone would prescribe to deal with fatigue in women, but it’s certainly not what I’m looking for. Maybe in another life …

Easter

I was reading that the average kid gets nearly 3kg of Chocolate at Easter worth 16,000 calories which is frightfully scarey. I know that last year we were still eating our Easter Chocolate until Christmas (yes that is how much chocolate we got) and some were thrown because they expired and tasted off. So this year… I beg and plead…. consider some unique easter gift ideas rather than chocolate. Spare a thought to the mum’s of those kids and spare a thought to Healthy Living and not overweight / obese kids with sugar rushes! PLEASE!

Mothering Sunday

Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day. And to all Mothers - Happy Mother’s Day. May your little treasure bring you little treasures.
