That time!

It’s that time of month again where spots come out and I am in need of acne treatment again. Truthfully a facial would be better and more wonderful but practicalities are different… so cream it is again. And maybe if I find the time, I will treat myself to a face mask and a nice bath!

Wishful thinking… must go see to the kids!

The Golden Prince

I must say that I really enjoyed reading The Golden Prince, by Rebecca Dean. It bears a similar story line to Prince William who is in love with a regular girl. In the book, The Golden Prince, is in love with someone, who although from a noble family is not royal and they have to try to come up with a solution to their royal dilemma.

Personally I felt like I was there sharing and living the romance and I struggled to put it down. Obviously I don’t want to tell you how it ends…. but I needed my tissues (for the happy and sad) throughout the book. Although not normally the sort of book I would normally go for… while reading it I almost felt princess like.

And if you want to read the book just get it from Amazon!

Diabetes

My mum is diabetic and has to take insulin injections. Anyway she has asked me to keep an epi pen (or something like that) in my fridge just in case of emergency. So when I heard of epiduo, I thought it might be some new drug that might be better for her except that it turned out to be an acne treatment. Shame particularly because her blood sugar could do with being stabilised as it really fluctuates.

My Discovery

Ok.. I have made a great discovery… Our Wii is best fat burner and fitness thing ever. It is fun. It is competitive. It is challenging. It is encouraging. You can check your calories burnt. You can keep your time exercised. It actually helps you improve. It encourages you to return and to improve. And it even stops you over doing stuff. My only complaint, is that you can waste time changing from one item to another as this substantially adds to the time you spend. In other words to do 30 minutes of exercise… you need at least 45 minutes free though maybe even more. Still… it is worth it.

Invitations

I must say that I am so proud of my efforts. I prepared my son’s invitations for his 5th Birthday Party. It is Toy Story themed, so I put a picture of Buzz Lightyear but with my son’s face instead. I used full color printing and printed on card. So far they have been a huge success with his friends… but most importantly they were a huge hit with my son. Aw!

Now to prepare the Thank You cards… might as well get prepared and match them. :)

The power of advertising

My son is so cute… he said we needed a ps3 keyboard for our Wii! It is amazing the power of advertising especially on a 4 / 5 year old. When I tried to explain it is only for PS3 and we don’t have one… his logical answer was to buy one! Considering we have a PS2 that is practically untouched… I don’t think so!  At least on the positive side, the Wii is a hit and well loved.

New Specs

I really must get round to buying myself some specs. Mine are literally falling apart. I keep having to tighten the screws and it has chips in the lenses and scratches. I am definately going for cheap eyeglasses because these were around £400 and well as I said they are falling apart and unimpressive. At least if a cheap pair start to fall apart, you can just buy another pair.

Now where is my prescription again!

Comet

So, I purchased a washing machine from Comet. Let me start by saying that their site is not the best of sites… the amount of times it made me mumble under my breathe was astonishing. However, I must also say the good bits… they have some of the largest range available and some prices are fabulous though some are rather expensive especially compared to other retailers.

Anyway, I placed my first order and it could not give me a delivery date. Never mind. I placed it because they said they would contact me. You do NOT get a confirmation email of your order. In fact you can keep wondering about your order for a while (though they say they will contact you within 24 hours). Anyhow, my order was cancelled within 24 hours – “Unfortunately we have been unable to process your order using the payment details you have provided. Please try again using an alternative card.” I was not pleased because there should have been no reason for the payment to go through… but errors happen. So I placed it again. 3 days later, I still have no contact from Comet. So I check their site and see that my order is due for delivery on Christmas Day of 2011. That is almost a year down the line. In case you think it is too far fetched, I have attached a screenshot of their site. So, I called to find out more.

First they said that it was out of stock and I said, well it does not say so on the site. Then he corrected himself and say it was a payment issue, which again I said was not possible. So he then acknowledged that it was not tried. Then he offered to replace the order and I pointed out that this order was not cancelled and if I placed another order, it was more expensive because of the VAT increase. He said fair enough and did not even offer to renew the order or say we will let you have it at original price of when you tried to buy it. Finally he said we do not deliver to your address. Seriously. I complained again that

  • my order was not cancelled and still due
  • my order was not refused by the system for the delivery address
  • it is 3 days later and I have heard nothing from Comet about my address or payment or stock or anything
  • I am left in suspense

His final reaction was… I will take it up with my manager. So as to customer service and website ease of use… Comet Fails.

I am not saying do not use Comet, because if your order is straight forward, then you could be on to a winner… but if you need customer care… GOOD LUCK!

Lots of news

My cousin is having a baby. This seems to be the season of good news. She had some really unique baby shower invitations made. Almost makes me wish that I was having another baby… well maybe not… I am still in recovery from the twins. Mind you, I must say I love the fact that I get twice the joy from everything they do like their cuddling me and their smiling at me. :)

New Beginings

If things go well then I am going to have the opportunity to do up a studio flat. The hardest bit about a studio flat is the limited space, so you need things to double up such as an innovation sofa turning to a bed and perhaps a microwave being a grill and oven. Thankfully all this technology exists, and so even in a tiny place you could have all sorts of luxuries. I cannot wait to do it, if I get the opportunity.
