Good News

A friend of mine has just told me that they will be getting married in the summer. I am so excited for them. I hope she will be sending out some bridal shower invitations. And I must say I am also looking forward to her hen night. I wonder… would she have both a  hen night and bridal shower… or are they basically the same thing except that they are culturally different? It would be great to be enlightened!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope Santa got you what you wanted. If not, remember sales start tomorrow!!

Babies Room

I guess I should not refer to it as the babies room any more as I have just ordered 2 junior pine beds for their room. In a way I am excited but in another it means they are fast becoming kids and not babies any longer. I will also have to remove the single bed that I have in their room which is used in emergencies like this week when they were sick. But it will free up space in their room and they really could do with all the space they can get. I cannot wait for the beds to arrive.

Trade Shows

I guess the bit I miss the most about working is going to trade shows. First of all you are given your tradeshow lanyards and then you visit lots and lots of stalls and treated really importantly. You are given loads of samples and loads of offers and you then want to spend spend spend and all at wholesale price. It is my idea of heaven. Now my personal thoughts are if shops  treated their customers this way, people would spend far more. I wonder if the babies are old enough for me to leave them for a long trade weekend!

Party Season

I love the party season. Obviously it means parties and er drink. The thing is you dress up and wear make-up and then you party. Which, at least in my case, result in being too tipsy, tired and too carefree to bother to remove my make up. And whereas as a teenager, it enhanced my looks, now not only do I look old and tired, it breaks my face out in acne. I do find that a good acne face wash helps dramatically against the acne… but I do miss the looking good in yesterday’s make up! :(

Dilemma

A couple of weeks back, on a day when my hubby did loads for me and our family, we had a spot of bad luck. He lost his wedding ring. Unexpectedly and unusally, I did not react badly. I let it sink in. I think it was the fact that he was so upset and the fact that he was with us and last but not least the fact  he that he was actually proving his commitment by his actions not just by wearing a removable ring.

On the positive side, perhaps I ought to ask him to renew our wedding vows, and I could get a Black Diamond Engagement Ring and he could get a wedding ring. Win Win Situation?

Printers

My hubby keeps trying to talk me into getting a wireless printer… and I am often so tempted because the reality is that I most often work downstairs and the printer is 2 floors up. Particularly annoying when you need to climb 2 floors just to change paper eg photo / card / coloured etc.

The question would be which printer to go for. I have had all types including HP, Lexmark, Epson and even brother printers. They each have different pros and cons. My brief points…

  • HP – Great Quality but very expensive ink though you can use compatibles quite well.
  • Brother – Great Quality. Cheap Ink. My Recommendation.
  • Lexmark – Acceptable quality. Ink on the expensive side. But cheaper to buy than ink (and you get a free set of ink generally).
  • Epson – I paid loads for this and quality is far worse than expected. Ink is not cheap either and you cannot work with compatibles.

There are others… like KODAK and Canon…. not sure what to do though?

A lighter touch!

My son can be so funny sometimes.. he overheard a friend of mine and I speaking about itching, allergies and allergy treatment austin and when I told him not to interupt prompt said, “but Mummy I am itchy all over” and proceeded to start scratching away. Needless to say a quick dose on his DS (what he originally wanted) cured him within 2 seconds. Now if only it were that easy to treat allergies and other illnesses!

The Golden Prince

I think we tend to think of Prince William as the Golden Prince, but in this case I am refering to Prince Edward (who later became King Edward VIII). More specifically, I am refering to a book by Rebecca Dean. It is a book mixed with fact and fiction and is about romance versus responsibility. It has captured my imagination and I cannot wait to read the book. If you have a soft spot for Royalty, Romance and a touch of fiction… then just run to Amazon and grab yourself a copy. At the very least, it will make great reading for the holidays.

I will review it further once I have read it all.
