Comparing

It is amazing how much you can save when you compare prices. Take my dad, he decided to compare life insurance and it actually saved him a small bundle. The thing is that, this is something you buy every year and so in essence you are saving that amount every year. It quickly adds up. Now if you compare your insurances every year and manage to get it further reduced every year, then you know you are saving lots of money to spend on other things. Cool Huh!

Now what should I spend them on?

Mobile Phones

I saw the phone that I would like to buy, now that I decided to withhold my spending for a while. Yes, I am trying to be prudent in this economic crisis. I must say that the shops are making it so hard with all the promotions available. Anyway, I digress, I love the new Ericsson phone with a 12 Megapixel camera but I cannot get one just yet here in the Isle of Man. Not that it matters so much, because it does not depend on the phone but on the cell towers to reflect on the reception (and unless you live very centrally in IOM)… so for now I guess Iwill wait. You never know… maybe Santa drops me one in my stocking!!!

Travelling

We were planning to go to Malta for Christmas and were looking for a place to stay. Being now a family of 5, we were thinking that perhaps renting an apartment made more sense than staying with family or in a hotel. However, i found internet prices to rent apartments in Malta were rather lacking in information and ridiculously expensive. Now if I could find a website like Indianapolis apartments for Malta, I might actually be successful in finding a place. They even do floor plans of the apartments which is great especially if you have kids.

Skin Treatment

Since being pregnant, my skin is all over the place. It has a certain nice quality to it, but it also is rather worse for wear. It has filled with black heads and has rather painful spots. I bet I know what you are thinking… what is the nice quality. My skin actually feels fresh and new but I cannot explain more than that. What I do know is that I desperately need some acne treatment. I did try Superdrugs Tea Tree Mask that peels off but perhaps I did not leave it on long enough, so I was not too impressed. I would ideally like something that you put on once and voila… clean and clear skin! I really no longer have the time to pamper myself. Now if someone wants to babysit… I could do with enjoying a long soak in the bath!!!

Ugg Boots

Personally, I have never been a fan off Ugg Boots. I find that within next to no time people seem to be walking on the side of their shoes rather than the sole of the boot. But then again, maybe that is all the fakes on the street. However, their latest product the UGG Cardy is cute and it comes in a wide range of colours which are really great. Yes, perhaps I am won over by the fact they do them in pink, but they also do them in Purple, Indigo, Blue etc etc. I actually think they are stylish too.

Kitchen Tips

I have just been given a tip for cleaning in the kitchen. Apparently if you have stainless steel tiles or fridge or other stainless steel appliance, the way to keep them shiny and free of finger print smudges is to wipe them down with ollive oil. I must say that I find it a bit off putting as the feeling of cleaning up oil is quite disgusting to me but then again, this is cleaning and not cleaning up!!! I guess I will stick to CIF stainless steel cleaning spray!

Aggie… what is your opinion??

Safety

My son has really come into his own recently. He started nursery and it seems overnight he has grown from a little toddler to a young boy with a cheeky grin. The only issues I seem to have is how to keep him protected. Obviously as he grows he wants his independence and I just want to wrap him in bubble wrap. Sadly despite being able to buy enough bubble wrap, it is not a real possibility. So instead I buy him things like cycle helmets, stabilizers, led tail lights and light up shoes and florescent jackets for visibility. I wish guaranteeing his safety was a matter of shopping but this is one incidence where shopping doesn’t cut it!

Lights

I really need to get organized and get myself some lighting fixtures. it is one thing when you need one light fixture, but when you have a list… it is almost embarrassing. I need a light for:-

  • Our under stairs cupboard
  • Under our kitchen cabinets
  • Under my son’s cabin bed – he has a hidden play area
  • A nightlight for our son that he can turn on and off
  • Our new cloakroom

Admittedly not the most fun when it comes to shopping but needs must and so I must just get round to shop!! Who would have imagined me grumble at shopping.

Disney

We received a lovely gift of two cute matching baby-grows from a friend of ours. They are Mickey Mouse Disney wear. They are ever so cute. They were actually purchased from Euro Disney in France, which made me think of our last holiday there. We had such a great time. We think that perhaps next time we will consider some orlando vacations ie Disney World Florida and perhaps the surrounding area. Not sure when we will be able to do it, but I am going start dreaming of our next holiday!!! BLISS!!

Our New TV System

I did tell you we were upgrading our TV system to have a host of satellite channels. OK, now I am not the most technological person but thankfully my hubby is. So I shall explain it in simple terms.

He purchased a box called a dream-box. Yes, I know, he did the shopping for a change! Then he somehow hooked it to our wifi and to our computer. Somehow he added online backup so that he can save programs even when we are not around. And last but not least subscribed to a bunch of satellite channels.

It works really well. I get to see lots of channels. He gets a new toy to play with. Now my only thing is to find a way to find out what is showing on the channels. I mean I could go to say BBC or ITV or Paramount to find out what is showing…. but that gets a bit complicated. Maybe its time to RTFM!!
